Taken on some more crew I can put my feet up

The Hartley true to tradition has become the party boat on the way back. Offering the tired sailors a break and a chance to helm something different.

Wind depending we may give them a go at a sail at the club on our return before the water goes.

After a good feed we are on our way

After a good evening of fun and games some good food we have packed up and the kids are getting ready to hit the water. We have some good winds but from the wrong direction so plenty of tacking practice today.

We will see you all back at the clubrooms a bit later on this afternoon.

Good sail to Glenbrook

We had some good winds and a really good sail to Glenbrook. Kids are stretching there legs and refueling before our next leg to Clarks beach.

LTS Clark’s beach trip kicking off

We are just waiting for the water but the wind has started which is a good relief from the no wind this morning.

Kids are excited and rearing to go.

Annual Clarks beach sailing Camp

Clark’s Beach Sail Trip is a fun overnight event for both young sailors and their families.

We will begin from Waiuku Yacht club on Saturday 8th February 8:30am safety briefing and rig up and then aiming to be on the water at 9:30am for our  sail to Glenbrook beach where we stop for lunch. Those not sailing are kindly asked to help transport items and all are welcome to meet the sailors at Glenbrook to hear of the kids adventures so far!

The sail continues on to Clark’s beach where after sorting the boats we set up tents and have a BBQ. It’s a fun finish to the day with games for the kids before bed.

Should you not have a tent you’re welcome to stay inside the Clarks Beach Yacht Club.

The next day we’ll pack up and sail back to Waiuku non stop on the incoming tide, aiming to arrive in the afternoon.

Cost is only $20 per person. Cash to be paid on the day (find Vicki Linnell  on the morning) but pre-registration essential. Please note the cost applies to all those attending (sailors and non sailors) as it covers all meal costs for the trip.

Parent sailors are encouraged to sail as well!

If you wish to attend and/or assist for the weekend please confirm names and assistance offered on the form below.

If you’re keen to help in any way we’re always looking for helpers on the RHIBs and would greatly appreciate a few parent helpers to transport luggage/tents and food.

There will be refreshments available on the day (burger and cold drink) for $6.

Clark’s beach sailing

We are on our way back to the club. Light winds but probally another 1.5 hours before we reach land. However here are some quick snaps of the weekenda from my phone. More to come when  we are on land.

Clarks Beach Sailing trip this weekend

This weekend is our annual Clarks Beach sailing trip. It is one of the favourite events by our Junior sailors and families.
We start the day at the club, getting our boats ready followed by a saftey briefing and then we hit the water.

After a cruise down to Glenbrook we stop for a lunch on the beach and once everyone is fed we hit the water for the final leg down to Clarks beach.

After we have all the boats out of the water we set up our tents and then get into the fun activties. As the evening comes in we get stuck into a good BBQ dinner. Then “tucked” into bed to get a good nights sleep.

The next day we reverse the process and catch the incoming tide and head back to the club rooms, de-rig the boats wash up and with a lot of smiling faces and good memories.

Cost for the weekend is $20 per person and this covers all your food. You need to bring your sailing gear, sleeping bags and tents. The clubrooms are also avalible to sleep in should you not have a tent.

If everyone attending can be here at midday Saturday with the aim of leaving the club rooms by 1pm.

To pre-register and prepay please click here.

Please note to all the other club sailors there is no club sailing this weekend however you are welcome to join us on the Clarks beach trip.
